Andrew Hutt Memorial Thread

Andrew Hutt,
a friend, actor and a father passed away suddenly late last night.
We dont know for sure what happened but doctors think it may have been a heart attack.

My thoughts are with anyone who knew Andy, his family, friends and especially his children and his partner, Kerry.  I will keep the forum updated with news on his funeral, for those who wish to pay their respects.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would like to take this opportunity to say a few things about my friend.  Please feel free to add your own thoughts and experiences below, I am sure all comments will be appreciated.

The Actor :
Andy Hutt, or 'Big Andy' as I used to call him played many roles during his lifetime but for me he
will always be Eugene Fanta, the sadistic-serial killer from my first film Gangsters In Love.

He was the most professional male actor on the team and I was the most amature director ever but he didnt seem to mind, infact I know he enjoyed it all really.  I worked with him for just one day on GiL but I remember him saying at the end of it "you and Cass were like a pair of giggling school girls" and it was so, SO true.

Andy enjoyed Gangsters In Love for what it was and was very proud of everyones work at the end of the premiere.  His favorite actor was Ray.  His quirky behavior and visual style made the film all worth it he said, something that will make Ray blush with embarrassment I am sure.

I too was embarrassed once upon a time because the only character I had to offer Andy was a deaf-mute, a cameo role.  Thats why I wrote a character in TTK especally for him and Andy loved the character in question.  He would have done a fantastic job.

A Friend :
If you ask anyone who ever met him they'll tell you one thing about Andy on first impressions - "hes very intimitating".  Give them 10 minutes with him though and you'd guarantee they'd change there minds.  Andy looked mean and he played mean but he was everything BUT mean in real-life.

He was one of the kindest people I've ever known and towards the begining of 2006 we started 'hanging out' together.  It was all work-related to start off with but as time went on we became really close friends.  He'd always come round my house to eat his lunch after the gym and chat about shit, my film, his film and life in general.

We planned alot of things together did me and Andy.  He saw ability and dedication inside of me and its this reason why he asked me to help co-produce two films he had written.  He saw good in people, he didnt take shit for shits sake and thats what I liked about him.  He was a true friend.

Family Guy
I didnt see much of Andy's family life to tell the truth.  I met Kerry, his partner in 2005 and saw the way they interacted together, he was a really caring boyfriend and would defend her and his family at all costs.  I only met his two children the once, little sweethearts the both of them.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Big Andy' meant alot to me and I will never forget him, not just because of how he helped me on my first film but also for being there as a friend when I needed him.  I am thankful for meeting such a kind and talented man.

Andy, I will never forget you.

Re: Andrew Hutt Memorial Thread

That is terrible news,  life is so cruel sometimes.

I enjoyed Andys performance immensely, he starred in my favourite GiL scene no less.  I never met him though.  My thoughts go out to his girlfriend and children.

Oh goodness.
What a tragedy and a sheer sad loss.

I hope St. Pete or whoever up there casts him in some good rôles!  And not just bloody deaf-mute ones either.

Re: Andrew Hutt Memorial Thread

I cant believe it, the news hasnt quite sunk in yet. I only met Andy on a couple of occassions and though physically intimidating he was such a wonderful and commited bloke, whether it be to the film and his other acting roles, the amazing charity work he completed and i have no doubt that he was an amazing father and partner.

My thoughts go out to Kerry and his two children, a blow for the family but Im sure Andy is the type of guy who would want them to have the best lives they possibly can and I hope the same for them.

may he rest in peace. Raise our glasses to the big man x

Re: Andrew Hutt Memorial Thread

Andy was given an artical in the local Gazette (Thursday) today, its a heart-warming read,
I have a copy if anyone missed it.

'Is That It', a film Andy acted in back in 2004 will be released later this year.  The director has
created rememberance book for Andy on his website, thought people may want to read or add to it.

The address is :
http://www.isthatit.co.uk/

Kerry txt me today.  Andys funeral will be held at St Cuthberts Church, Church Lane, Ormesby next Thursday at 12.00pm.  Anyone who wishes to pay there respects should arrive before then.

The burial is at Thorntree Cemetary at 1.00pm.  Then after that we are going to Last Orders, the pub in Boro where Andy worked.  Kerry asks to let her know how many people are coming so if you could contact me to let me know and I will pass on the number, sooner the better.

Takecare everyone,
Joe

Re: Andrew Hutt Memorial Thread

Today was Andy's funeral.
Most people reading this will know why I couldnt be there as originally planned, I am sorry I missed the serivce and the burial but Andy knew what I thought of him and Kerry knew what he meant to me and at the end of the day that is all that counts.

My thoughts are with all those who attended and all those who must now continue this, the strangest of games - the game they call life.  Wherever you are Andy I hope you are at peace.

EDIT : my tribute can noe be found on Andys website under the Videos section :
